Attendance and participation

Attendance and participation are critical, including participation in all on-line activities. More than three unexcused absences may result in a lower grade, and more than six unexcused absences may result in your not passing the course.

Learning objectives

  • To improve your ability to outline, revise, and edit
  • To improve your ability to make a logical, coherent argument in writing
  • To increase your awareness of and sensitivity to your reader

Methods

You will complete an extensive range of activities in class and two formal essays.

Grading

  • Attendance and participation: 30%
  • Midterm paper: 30%
  • Final paper: 40%
